BUILDING HEALTH THROUGH STRENGTH SINCE 2011
ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is João Afonso, born and based in Tavira.
I have been practicing physical exercise for as long as I can remember. I started competing in federated sports at the age of 7, completed my degree in Fitness and Health in Sport in 2011 at the Rio Maior School of Sport, and since then I’ve been working as a Personal & Group Trainer.
Beyond staying in shape, I have always valued the health benefits that exercise brings in all its aspects. That’s exactly what I aim to prioritise in my training approach, which can be adapted to any age or condition.
Scientific evidence, which forms the basis of how I keep my knowledge up to date through courses, studies and literature, clearly shows that strength training can be one of the greatest allies for a long, active and high-quality life.
Talking is easy, but adding training to a routine can sometimes be a real challenge. You can start with one training session per week.
After a year, with 40 or 50 sessions completed, you will see that the difference can be significant. The important thing is to start in a light, natural and progressive way, without extremes.
Within a triangle of training, quality nutrition and adequate sleep, aesthetics will also appear. It is true that the greater the commitment and frequency, the better the results will be. Even so, health will always matter more than whatever aesthetics may represent.
If you would like to train with me, in Tavira or anywhere in the world, get in touch and we can talk about how to fit training into your reality.
